Money and of course that's, that's a big part of why we go to work isn't it. But there are a few rules you want to follow when you're talking about money. First of all, you are going to think ahead of time about what you're worth. You need to go into, any stage of an interview, but especially a final stage knowing what you want to get paid. What is it that you think your time and your knowledge and your energy and effort are worth. Information that can help you determine this is knowing the going rate for whatever position you're applying for. Is it entry level, is it mid-level, is it, are you a doctor, a lawyer, whatever it is, what is the standard rate across the country and you can just do an internet search and find out that information. Usually you are presented a salary and in many companies it is an entry level salary. Now, salaries are always open to negotiation unless you are told otherwise. That the salary is not negotiable. But if you want to negotiate a higher salary, traditionally why you do that is because you have a certain skill set, experience on your resume, or educational background that warrants it and that is how you want to present your request to start at a higher salary. Bring up those points, that make you more qualified or experienced than the regular entry level person. It helps in salary negotiation, if the job that you do or the skill set that you have is in short supply or if the companies business is booming. So that's going to be important information for you to know before you decide if you're going to request for a higher salary. Maybe money is not negotiable, and that's ok, benefits are and that's something that you can negotiate. Find out what type of benefits the company offers and sometimes you might be able to pick and choose and play around a little bit with what benefits you get that can increase the value of your overall package. Employers spend 25% to 45% on employee benefits, so always keep that open as a viable option. Maybe you can't get a higher salary but perhaps you can get more paid vacation. Take a look at what they offer and see what you want and what is it worth to you to trade around in order to get it...
